The Virgin Suicides

I freaking love this movie. I love the vintage essence of the star cast, who all look like they stepped fresh out of the original Woodstock. There's no happy ending, which totally threw me through a loop, because every movie always has a boring happily ever after. I, also, do not believe in excessive, or really any amount, of smiling slash flaunting of happiness in public and the Lisbon sisters reinforce my belief system. Nothing seems to phase them, except for when the tree in their front lawn was threatened. Those are the emotional priorities we all aspire towards!

Virgin Suicides was both WRITTEN *AND* DIRECTED by Sophia Coppola, the genius who also created the magical Mean Girls, a leading film director of our time who turns anything she touches into a Golden Globe award. May I add, also the only person EVER to make a quadruple suicide look kinda cool and oddly romantic? My emotional attachment to any film Kristen Dunst stars in doesn't help my inevitable obsession with this work of hers. All in all, you can google this film if you have yet to see it but I don't care if rotten tomato gave an understated rating of 76%, this film deserved 100% and a "must-see" type of commentary.
